Simon Delves 


Simon Delves was born in 1953. He attended Surrey University where he obtained a BSc Hons in Civil Engineering. He originally qualified as a chartered engineer (1979) and worked for Gleeson Civil Engineering, Biwater Limited, and Wade Adams Construction (in Tanzania).

Whilst at Gleeson he was based on site at the Dinorwic pumped storage power station in North Wales, with responsibility for reinforced concrete structures and major earthworks. At Biwater he worked as a civil engineering estimator for projects both in the UK and internationally. His time with Wade Adams was spent as senior engineer on a major building project in Tanzania.

In 1987, he qualified as a solicitor at DMH, before moving to Lovells in 1987 after 6 years he joined Shadbolt & Co where he was managing partner. Simon is now a partner at Beale and Company where he continues to specialise in construction and civil engineering. He has built up a large practice, not only in advising clients in the preparation and negotiation of major project documentation, nationally and internationally, but also in problem solving and dispute resolution in these fields.

Simon has a wide experience of major projects; including power stations, roads, dams, water treatment plants, hotels and commercial development schemes.

He is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, the Society of Construction Law, Technology & Construction Solicitors Association, Construction Productivity Network and the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is the co-author of Tolley's Guide to Construction Contracts and is Chairman of the advisory panel for legal affairs at the Institute of Civil Engineers.

Simon is a CEDR Accredited Mediator and TeCSA Accredited Adjudicator and Mediator and has extensive experience as a board member on dispute review boards and as a representative of parties attending conciliations, mediations and adjudications.

Simon's outside interests include his family and sailing.
