To retain King Henry VIII favour Cardinal Wolsey gave this splendid building to the King who extended the building and later in William and Mary's reign further work was undertaken by the architect Christopher Wren making it a blend of English Baroque and Tudor. Many of the rooms are decorated from the Royal collection of paintings, furniture and tapestries. The house leads into the restored Baroque gardens Henry VIII helped to design the Pond Garden with its sunken water garden and small single jet fountain.
