England's green and pleasant land welcomes visitors from around the world. In the north the Dales and the beautiful Peak District sits at the bottom end of the spine of England, the Pennine Way where it starts around Edale. In many of the villages throughout the county is the ancient custom of Well Dressing starting at Tissington at the beginning of the Peak District in May, the whole village takes part in delivering these works of art each year. Large wooden structures are soaked in the Village pond, these are filled with clay and an artist picks out an already worked out usually biblical theme. The Villagers then take over and arrange the colours with the flora and fauna that can be found growing locally. The resulting picture is then put on display as a thanks giving for the Wells. Ending on August Bank holiday the last to celebrate is the Plague Village of Eyam in the north of the County. The Derwent Valley offers stone built villages with their local customs and architectural styles and the town of Buxton holds an annual Music Festival.
